The power of two channels.

Dual Coding Theory, proposed by Allan Paivio, suggests that memory is vastly improved when information is processed through two separate channels: a verbal channel (words) and a non-verbal channel (images/symbols). CLN is a practical implementation of this theory: every line contains both a semantic symbol (operator) and verbal content (text).

CONCEPT: Dual Coding Theory
    = memory retention improves when info is presented in both verbal and visual formats
        #definition
        #learning
        #neuroscience
    = Proposed by Allan Paivio (1971)

    ─── THE MECHANISM (Input → Output) ───

    . Channel 1: Verbal (Logogens)
        = Processing text and speech
            @location: Left Hemisphere (Language centers).
            @trait: Sequential processing.

    . Channel 2: Non-Verbal (Imagens)
        = Processing images, shapes, spatial relations
            @location: Right Hemisphere (Visual cortex).
            @trait: Parallel processing.

    . The Synergy
        = When both codes are active, they reference each other.
        → Result: Redundancy. If you forget the text, you remember the shape.
        → Result: If you forget the shape, you read the text.

    ─── CLN IMPLEMENTATION: "DUAL CODED LINES" ───

    = Every CLN line is a Dual Code artifact
        #design

    . Prose (Single Code)
        | input:
            ───
            "This is a critical risk regarding the API."
            ───
        . Processing:
            . Verbal: "This is a..." (Processed).
            . Visual: Uniform texture (Ignored).
        → Result: Single channel encoding. Low retention.

    . CLN (Dual Code)
        | input:
            ───
            ! Risk: API failure
            ───
        . Processing:
            . Verbal: "Risk: API failure" (Logogen).
            . Visual: Shape `!` (Imagen).
        → Result: Additive effect. Visual cue strengthens verbal memory.

    ─── THE "SHAPE AS SEMANTICS" PRINCIPLE ───

    . Operator Shapes
        = CLN operators are not random; they are semantically loaded icons.
            . ! = Alert / Stop (Visual cue: Vertical bar + dot).
            . = = Definition / Equality (Visual cue: Two parallel lines).
            . → = Result / Flow (Visual cue: Direction).
        → Result: The shape itself carries meaning without reading.

See the meaning.

CLN turns abstract text into a visual language. By engaging both the linguistic and visual parts of your brain, it creates "sticky" memories that are easier to recall and harder to lose. It is not just notation; it is a memory architecture.

Words are fragile. Shapes are robust. Combine them.
