Systems Thinking
Traditional analysis breaks problems into pieces. Systems
Thinking puts them back together. It studies how interconnected
elements create a web of cause and effect. Change the structure, and the
behavior changes automatically.
01/The Building Blocks
=
Stock: The accumulation (e.g., Knowledge,
Money, Inventory).
=
Flow: The rate of change (e.g., Learning rate,
Expenses, Sales).
. Behavior is the
result of flows filling or draining stocks.
02/Circular Causality
Dynamics
REINFORCING (R)
Accelerates change. Snowball effect.
BALANCING (B)
Stabilizes the system. Thermostat.
03/Mapping Loops in CLN
CLN turns invisible relationships into a scannable map using indentation for causal chains:
=
SYSTEM: Productivity Stack
+ (R) Loop: CLN
Usage
. More notes → Better
structure
. Better structure →
Less friction
. Less friction →

Information Load
! More complexity →
Cognitive fatigue
. Fatigue → Slower
processing
04Finding the
Leverage
+
Insight: Don't fight the behavior; shift the
structure.
+
Action: Find the "Leverage Point" where a small
change creates a big shift.
*
Note: In the example above, the leverage is
compression (reducing complexity).
*
Self-Test: Is a system just a list of parts?
|| No. A
system is defined by the web of relationships and
connections between parts. ||
