Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) is an instructional design theory that uses knowledge of human cognitive architecture to generate instructional strategies. Developed by John Sweller in the late 1980s, it provides the scientific framework for everything CLN does: optimizing the use of limited Working Memory.

CLT teaches us that Working Memory is the bottleneck of human intelligence. CLN is the valve. By strictly controlling the flow of information—reducing noise, highlighting signal, and chunking complexity—we align our writing with the biological limits of the brain.
You cannot change the brain. You must change the text.
